Dear
Parent/Guardian/Student,
New
York State Education Department (NYSED) has announced a new one-day Regents
Comprehensive Examination in English on Tuesday, January 11, 2011. Due to this
addition to the Regents Test Schedule and because a large number of students in
our school are planning to take the exam in January, our school has
chosen to cancel classes for non-testing students, like we do for other
regularly scheduled Regents exam days.
I
apologize for any inconvenience that this change in schedule may cause. But cancelling classes is necessary in order
to ensure that students taking the English Regents exam have a quiet and
appropriate environment in which to take the exam and have the opportunity to
perform to the best of their ability.
If
your child is taking the exam, s/he should plan to arrive by 8:30. The exam begins at 9:15 and students will
need time to enter the building through scanning, get seated in their exam rooms
and ready to take the ELA Regents Exam.
Please remember - if
your child is not taking the English Regents exam, s/he does not have class on
January 11, 2011.
For
the full Regents Exam schedule, look on the other side of this letter or visit
the following web site: http://www.p12.nysed.gov/osa/schedules/exam-schedule-0111.pdf.
I
know that you all join me in wishing good luck to all of our students who will
be taking the ELA Regents Exam on January 11.
Sincerely
yours,
Adam
