Dear AOHT Community,

We are almost upon the end of our school’s first year and I want to share my pride with you.  In this first year we have:

·        Sent over 50% of our students on job shadowing events to any of the following: Brooklyn Marriott Hotel, The Four Seasons Hotel, The Sherry Netherland Hotel,  The W Tuscany Hotel, Wyndham Hotel, Trump International Hotel, and the Crown Plaza Hotel at the United Nations (first time for 9th grade students)

·        Formed a dance troupe that performed for the Alumni Association’s Homecoming celebration and the Celebrate Flatbush event

·        Attended the Multi-Cultural Food Service and Hospitality Alliance Annual Conference at Madison Square Garden

·        Published our first school newspaper

·        Took the entire school student community on a professionally guided tour of NYC

·        Took the entire school student community on a retreat with rock-climbing and trust-game events

·        Introduced our students to great opportunities in the Hospitality and Tourism industry, one of the world’s largest industries

·        Conducted our first two semi-annual Share Fairs during which all of our students showcase their best work for the entire school community to see

·        Formed a student government and conducted a school-wide vote of the students to amend the dress code policy

·        Made lasting connections with our industry partners

·        Placed five students in the Marquis Academy for the Summer of 2007 (first time for 9th grade students)

I am proud of each and every one of you.  You are all in a group of “firsts” in the history of Academy of Hospitality and Tourism High School at Erasmus Hall Campus.  You are the people who made this school a reality, who took advantage of our career and business opportunities and decided that you wanted your high school to make sense.

Have a great summer and prepare yourselves for even more experiences in the professional world when you return as 10th graders – you have earned them!

I look forward to our many years together – leading up to and well beyond your graduation.

Sincerely yours,

Adam D. Breier
